Overview
The Institutional Affiliation Agreements Program facilitates the advancement of UCSF’s institution-to-institution strategic partnerships across research, discovery, clinical care, and education through cross-institutional collaborations.
About the Program
The Institutional Affiliation Agreements (IAA) Program facilitates the advancement of UCSF’s institution-to-institution strategic partnerships across research, discovery, clinical care, and education through cross-institutional collaborations between UCSF faculty, researchers, students, and staff and colleagues at other institutions.
The IAA program strives to bridge existing process gaps and exists as a repeatable, transparent, and inclusive program for negotiating, reviewing, monitoring, and tracking UCSF’s affiliation agreements.
The creation and development of this program is a commitment to creating a sustainable process that will keep the university legally compliant, foster the opportunity for a collaborative, efficient, and creative method for working on agreements, and respect the time and effort of key agreement contributors and affiliate partners.
If you have questions or would like to learn more about the program, please contact the IAA Program Manager ([email protected]).

About the IAA System
The Institutional Affiliation Agreements is supported by a technology system powered by DocuSign CLM and Salesforce.
The DocuSign CLM is a Contract Lifecycle Management software that seamlessly integrates with the DocuSign eSignature product already offered to the UCSF community.
The CLM supports all contract negotiation activities, among both internal UCSF negotiators and the external affiliation team. It offers layers of contract routing and approvals, sends out contracts for final execution via DocuSign eSignature, and acts as the central repository for all Institutional Affiliate Agreements.
Salesforce provides additional information about the affiliates that may be useful during negotiations. There are three contextual affiliation dashboards that are integrated with the CACTAS system, the Professional Service Agreements (PSA) system, and the Training Affiliation Agreements (TAA) system. This integration provides a read-only window to see what other agreements are in effect, or have been completed, with the affiliate.
