Nicquet Blake, PhD, a national advocate for fairness, inclusivity, and equal opportunity in higher education, joined UC San Francisco as vice provost of Student Academic Affairs and dean of the Graduate Division in December 2021. Since then, she has strived to foster a culture of intellectual growth, collaboration, and innovation at UCSF.

Dr. Blake is dedicated to upholding UCSF’s tradition of excellence in training. She is committed to supporting faculty, industry partners, and other stakeholders in creating innovative programs and curricula to advance discovery and knowledge and prepare students for successful careers.

As the dean of the Graduate Division, she is responsible for overseeing student recruitment, admissions, and retention for more than 30 doctoral and master’s programs, as well as managing 1,100 postdoctoral scholars. In addition, her role includes oversight of evidence-based curricula for faculty development, career and professional development, and training in the ethics and responsible conduct of research (RCR).

Dr. Blake received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology from UT San Antonio. She earned her doctorate in neuroscience and completed postdoctoral training at Washington University in St. Louis.
