Overview

The EVCP Organization at UCSF has primary responsibility for the operations, organization, and advancement of the University's missions in research, teaching, and service.

Role of the EVCP

The executive vice chancellor and provost (EVCP) is the chief academic officer at UCSF and is responsible for academic programs and operations and the advancement of the University’s missions in research, teaching, and service.

The EVCP plays a primary role in:

  • development and implementation of academic programs
  • planning for faculty recruitment and retention
  • day-to-day campus operations
  • conception, design, and implementation of major campus initiatives

In these roles, the EVCP directs and collaborates with the campus vice chancellors, vice provosts, deans, Academic Senate leadership, and the CEO of UCSF Health. The EVCP also serves as liaison between the central administration and the broader campus community, frequently meeting with a wide variety of campus units and groups to convey important information and foster dialogue in support of UCSF’s strategic goals.
