EVCPO: What to Expect from Upcoming Parking Changes at Parnassus

EVCPO: What to Expect from Upcoming Parking Changes at Parnassus

A commuting resources announcement on EVCPO employee parking permits, UCSF parking updates, and more transit options.

*Sent on behalf of Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Clarice Estrada.*

Dear Colleagues,

The EVCP leadership team appreciates that transit is a significant consideration as we implement our EVCPO Flexible Work program. I write with additional details following Senior Vice Chancellor Erin Gore’s announcement of changes at UCSF to increase parking for our patients, allocate on-site parking to employees through a new permit system, and expand alternative transit options.

Please note that this is updated information since our commuting resources town hall on February 20, 2025.

Highlights

  • The discounted daily parking rates introduced during the pandemic are ending as of the following dates:
    • Parnassus Heights: June 1, 2025
    • Mission Bay: August 1, 2025
  • The Millberry Union Garage at Parnassus is reserved for patients and visitors.

Parnassus Parking Permits for EVCPO Employees

As stated, to manage our constrained on-site parking, a new permit system will be implemented at Parnassus Heights for the ACC Garage effective June 1, 2025

The majority of ACC parking permits have been assigned to UCSF care providers to ensure that they are able to access facilities in a timely way to care for our patients. The EVCPO was assigned fewer than 20 Parnassus parking pass slots, which is similar to the number assigned to other campus units.

  • These parking permits will be assigned, prioritizing employees whose roles require them to be onsite daily at Parnassus, particularly for life safety and institutional leadership responsibilities.
  • If you have a critical need for a monthly parking permit, complete this form by Friday, April 11, 2025.
  • Applicants will be informed of decisions by Friday, April 18, 2025.
  • Permits are non-transferable and may not be shared.

UCSF remains committed to ensuring access for individuals with physical disabilities.

Transit Options and Resources

  • For the majority of us who will no longer be able to park on campus, please consult the information about affordable, expanded park-and-ride lots and other enhanced transit options on the UCSF Transportation website.
  • Campus Life Services will continue to provide Commute Concierge Consultations, informational emails, and upcoming transportation information sessions to assist with our transit planning.
  • A permit system will be announced for Mission Bay in the coming months, and I will share more information as it becomes available.

Thank you for your partnership as we navigate these changes to support UCSF’s mission areas and address limited parking availability.

Sincerely,

Clarice Estrada, MPA

Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
